A media campaign was launched in 2000 by the president of
the Maldives,
HE Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom to create a cuture for media for and about children.
The purpose of creating such a media culture is to create awareness of survival, protection and
development needs of children 0-5 years in an environment that is positive,
respectful, stimulating and fun for children and their families.
This media campaign was a 52 week campaign with spots on ECD key messages in telecasted/broadcasted
by both Television Maldives and Voice of Maldives. One spot was repeated for
4-5 time daily from Friday to Thursday. This media campaign was being continued
as an extended weekly programme till 2005.
New
programmes are being developed through “Dhaal” programme developed by EDC.
